John Galliano At Paris Fashion Week
Paris Fashion Week was expressive and interesting, as usually. I saw so many thrilling ideas coming up from fashion designers catwalks. Galliano’s Spring/Summer fashion collection 2010 didn’t let me stay tranquil. It was simply impossible to keep yourself when skinny models were walking through a haze of bubbles, taking to the catwalk in veiled black lace.
I felt something from old magical Hollywood, something and somehow, romantic. Old Hollywood heroines and their bygone era inspiration drifting here and there. And, as chiffon gowns and costume jewels, feathers and lace took to the catwalk, there was something Miss Havisham-meets-Sunset Boulevard about the collection.
Cutaway crochet panels on coats added a kind of absolute dramatic effect. Galliano had not only raided the Hollywood archive, he had raided the trimmings archive, as we see his waists garnished with big birthday present bows and flowers dancing amid sheer tiers on blue lace hemmed skirts. Leona Lewis Demonstrates Vivienne Westwood Fashion Style
Nowadays, Leona Lewis is one of the best selling pop singers. The winner of the X Factor 2007, the young singer from North London has gone on to sell more than 6.5 million albums and 15 million singles worldwide! She is stylish and beautiful, she is princess and goddess. But wearing clothing by the godmother of punk, Dame Vivienne Westwood, she becomes fantastic and breathtaking… She becomes a dream for both men and women.
Just look at Westwood’s creating of a series of modern, “heroine” gowns, in gold lamé and white satin, she used for the release of Leona Lewis’ new single and second album, which is coming in November.
Miss Crawford Criticises Modern Fashion Sizes
Cindy Crawford, who is 43 years old now, was one of the best paid models of the 1980s and 1990s, has recently said: “I would not have become a supermodel in 2009. I look too healthy.” Wow, you may say. I have stopped for a second and agreed with Cindy. A body like her own “with big breasts, normal thighs and toned upper arms” is no longer what the industry is looking for, she said. The former super model is the latest fashion figure to express concern over “size zero” models. To tell you the truth, I prefer woman like Cindy, fantastic fashion muses! Not skinny skeletons:(. They don’t express any power of women’s beauty during the fashion shows. Moreover it is hard to imagine the way a fashion costume they show will be worn on a regular woman!
In October, in Germany, one of the most popular women’s magazine stopped using professional models completely. They say they wear fed up with having to digitally erase their protruding bones. Read the rest of this entry »
Lindsay Lohan Debut at Ungaro
Well, the first Ungaro fashion show since it was announced that Lindsay Lohan has been named “creative advisor” to the house of Ungaro was announce a real success during the Fashion Week. Appointed by Ungaro ceo Mounir Moufarrige, Lohan’s job description was to bring youth and press coverage to the brand and, so far it seems, at least the latter has been successful. Ungaro is a label famed for its bright colours and there was plenty of that: a pink strapless mini dress, ruched chiffon trousers of bright blue or orange worn with silk collarless matching blouses and billowing pink genie pants with wide, gathered waistbands below scarlet bra tops… All these costumed created a pink fairy tale illusion. I think that collection was the must have for for LA girls wanting plenty of ideas in their wardrobe to cover several parties a night, every night: one-shouldered white ones, sparkly, tight striped ones, flowing peach chiffon ones - but it didn’t go much beyond that. Are Paris Fashion Traditions The Ideal?
The UK people have always had a strange idea saying that the French might be better dressed than them. I think that for some reason, people from other parts of our Earth think the same. Let me tell you, yes - the French are considered the most stylish people not only in Europe. I think it is all about a style formed by Françoise Hardy, Catherine Deneuve, Brigitte Bardot. This style depends upon Breton striped tops, or perfectly tailored black jackets, trousers or a pencil skirt. You’ll find plenty of these in the current winter collections, created a predominantly monochrome palette of white and different dark colours. Given that the fashion originated with French couturiers – Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and, of course, Coco Chanel – its revival in the Paris shows should come as no surprise. Trendy Items for Men Fall 2009 Style
1. Cardigan
Cardigans have been popular for a few seasons, but imagine a retro style cardigan over a tee or button down shirt for fall! Just pair it with geek chic glasses and skinny jeans and you have a very current look.
2. Henley
The fashion Henley isn’t exactly a new trend. I love henleys because they “dress up” an otherwise plain tee. Paired with a v-neck sweater and a great pair jeans and you have the perfect casual look for fall. Read the rest of this entry »
Beckham Dress: Wear It Best Contest
Just have a look at the picture above and tell me who looks best in Victoria Beckham’s dress - the designer herself or her celebrity customers?
Tom Ford’s Sexy Fashion Way
Just look at this man. He represents one of the brightest examples of modern fashion designer who is able to combine fresh ideas with classic style chic. Since 1990 when he joined Gucci - until now, we feel that his fashion vision has been under construction. From his velvet and satin touches we saw during his Gucci epoque to the February 2006 cover of Vanity Fair, both nudity and sexuality seep from him. He is a real American Cowboy! Born in Texas in 1962, Tomas Forf studied interior architecture at Parsons School of Design. Than his Gucci era started. By the year 1999 he had made Gucci worth $4.3 billion! That sounds unbelievable. “We didn’t even have a photocopier at one stage,” he admits. “We didn’t have any paper”. In 2000, Ford was announced the Best International Designer at the firstVogue Awards in New York. • After his work for Gucci Fashion house he was able to buy a controlling stake in Yves Saint Laurent and this is how he get appointed creative director and communications director of YSL’s ready-to-wear business. What is interesting is that all this time he was continuing to design for Gucci. In April 2004, Tom Ford parted company with the Gucci group after he and ceo Domenico de Sole, who is credited as Ford’s partner in the success story that is Gucci, failed to agree over creative control of the Group. Well, I think that was the end of his Gucci epoque and the beginning of his own fashion empire which now includes menswear, beauty, eyewear, and then both men’s and women’s accessories.
